Paul stood before Rome’s representative as he was wrongly accused of being a creator of dissension (Acts 24:5). He did not allow that, however, to discourage him from his mission; to Felix he preached a message of righteousness, self-control, and the Lord’s judgment day that is coming. Felix was disturbed by such a message; Paul preached it nonetheless. We may not be a man like Paul, and neither may we be a woman like Ruth, but we can sure teach the same thing and live the same way both of them did. People will be bothered, but one day a “Philippian jailor” may come to us and ask us an all-important question (cf. Acts 16:30-33). Will you be ready?
