A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel (Proverbs 12:10, NKJV). I am not an “animal rights” supporter; the agenda they support usurps God’s way. On the other hand, I understand that animals are here for man’s benefit and are to be respected as God’s creation. To mistreat an animal is despicable and reflects against the one who is guilty of doing so. Those who have lost their moral compass, however, have much difficulty understanding proper treatment of God’s creation. In fact, to get a better sense of the last half of the verse, the NET reads: “but even the most compassionate acts of the wicked are cruel.” RT
