It was not long ago that I was asked to define grace. I gave no precise definition, but indicated that grace must be understood in the context in which it is used. Wanting to check myself on that, I went to a Bible dictionary and looked at what was said. This is what I found: “…a gift or favorable reaction or disposition toward someone” (Baker, p. 698). I often use the passage of Scripture in Titus 2:11-12 wherein we learned that God’s grace appeared to all men teaching us to deny ungodliness, and live spiritually sober lives (clear thinking) in this dark work. That fits well with the sentiment of the Baker Bible dictionary. RT
