“Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time” (Revelation 12:12, NKJV). As a preacher I can’t help but to think about my own failings in conveying the seriousness of this sentiment to people walking blindly in this world. It may be that there is no fault in me in this regard, but I refuse to allow myself to think that way. Why? As a preacher, I have responsibilities that are not those of non-preachers (cf. James 3:1). I well understand the Lord’s terror (2 Corinthians 5:11), thus, I do what I can to bring this message of the Lord’s righteousness to the ears of any and all I can. This is not depressed thinking, but instruction made clear by the Lord about the eternal destiny of people. Satan, with a mighty force, seeks who he can devour – and his devouring appetite in never filled. He knows he has but a short time (viewed from the vantage point of the individual man), and with gusto he seeks his victims. Let us help one another in distributing the Lord’s message.
