That which plagues man is called sin. Whatever else one may be plagued with (guilt, uneasiness, heaviness of burden) they do not compare with the plague of one’s heart that has not repented (cf. 1 Kings 8:39). Moses told those of the tribes of Israel, those who desired to make their homes on the east side of the Jordan River rather than going over the Jordan in the land originally promised, Moses told them that if they failed to do their duty and meet their promised obligation, then “be sure your win will find you out” (Numbers 32:23). Every man knows the plague of his own heart, Solomon said. Moses said one can be sure their sin will find each one out. Paul said for some their sins follow them to judgment (1 Timothy 5:24). It is the challenge for each person to address their individual plague because, if they don’t, their sin will find them out. Have you?
