Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die. (Proverbs 15:10, NKJV) The wisdom of these words is obvious to any who thinks on them but for a few moments. The one who suffers the harsh discipline (teaching, correction) has abandoned the way he knows is right. The discipline administered might be harsh from one perspective, but the punishment administered makes the harsh discipline tame. It is better to suffer but for a few moments than to suffer for eternity. Better yet – it is better to not suffer at all, but to live the holy and righteous life of Christ.
