A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! (Proverbs 15:23, NKJV). A properly spoken word at the appropriate time is beyond measure in value. Who would not want to be capable of offering such a thing? We put ourselves in better position to do exactly that when we align ourselves to the Lord’s way of righteousness. In our respective hearts the Lord’s Word dwells (Col. 3:16), and this dwelling controls the tongue. Among many reasons to desire to accomplish that which the proverb speaks are two that I want to mention. First, the source of the word spoken is from God’s education as one reads, studies and implements His word in life. Second, the experiences of life help each of us to harness that experience in such a way to help one who, perhaps, never experienced the same. RT
